Who We Are

Christ Church Twin Cities

A Church in the Confederation of Reformed Evangelical Churches

Christ Church is a church in the southwestern suburbs of Minneapolis dedicated to celebrating life in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

For two thousand years Christians have gathered together on Sundays to worship the Triune God, to hear the preaching of the Word, and to enjoy the meal of bread and wine which Jesus gave to us.  We stand in that stream of history, enjoying how ancient and how fresh the worship of God can be.

The Old Testament tells of life in the Kingdom of God prior to the Advent of Christ. This life was one of celebration in the presence of God.  When people went up to worship God in faith of what would come, they went there cleansed and purified, they offered sacrifices of praise and they ate the provisions God had given to them in His presence.

We now live in the Kingdom after the Advent of Christ and we know how the story ends: Christ became flesh, came to earth, died, rose again, and now sits at the right hand of God waiting for the kingdoms of this world to become His kingdoms.  We look back and celebrate this fact.  We worship, we pray, and we feast every Sunday, just as the Israelites did every Saturday.

The excellence and joy of the Kingdom of the Triune God is far better and far worthier of celebration than any other holiday. We treat it as such.  Every Sunday is a day of rest and celebration in the Kingdom of God. If you come to worship at Christ Church, expect to stay for the feast after the service. We really do celebrate.

We are not without our affiliations or descriptors, of course.  We are a member of the Confederation of Reformed Evangelical Churches, abiding in their Augustine Presbytery. This means we are a reformed church doctrinally, espousing such things as election and covenant and celebrations. Broadly we subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith, and even include a portion from the Westminster Shorter Catechism in every service. If you want to know more about what we believe, there’s a handy link off to the left.

If you live in the Twin Cities and do not have a church home or you are recently located to the Cities, we would love to have you visit.  If you are already members of a church, we bless you and the body to which you are joined.  We look for the Kingdom of God to be expanded all over the Twin Cities and recognize that this task will include many Christians and Churches of many different stripes.
